A pleasant Sunday afternoon turned tragic, leaving a family in Nairobi's Githurai Estate mourning the life of a young one gone too suddenly, too soon.
The nine year old boy died after stepping on a live wire hanging from a transformer.
The child, identified as Gideon Gachuku, was playing outside with friends when the incident occurred at around 1:30 pm, The Star reports.
The parents of the child rushed him to St. John Hospital in a bid to save his life, only for him to be pronounced dead on arrival.
Kenya Power and Lighting Company have since visited the area and promised to fix the fault.
Speaking to the media, Police Spokesperson Zipporah Mboroki confirmed both the incident and the visit by KPLC.
