A father from Dandora Estate surrendered himself to the police on Wednesday, June 21, morning for stabbing his wife to death.

A statement from the Police indicated that the man led them back to his Dandora home where the body of his wife, which had visible stab wounds on her neck and hands, was found laying in a pool of blood.

On their assignment, the officers found a letter the man had written to his eldest son instructing him to use the money left on his phone to take care of his younger brother and pay his fees.

Speaking to the media, neighbours revealed that the two had quarreled over Ksh1,000 the man demanded from the woman to pay for a chama that he was a member of.

A neighbour stated that the woman refused to give him the money because she was saving it for her son's return for the mid-term break.

“They were quarreling over Ksh1,000. Maybe he was not okay because he was not going to work.

“The woman refused to give him the money and kept telling him that the son would come back home for the mid-term break and they would need money to send him back to school but he insisted,” the neighbour recalled.

Another witness stated that she heard a thud but upon checking she saw the suspect fall from the balcony of his house.

The suspect later went to fetch police officers who accompanied him to investigate the incident.

“At around 2:00 am, my husband and I were woken up by the commotion. I came out of the house and found other neighbours gathered outside their house.

“I heard someone falling and when I came out, I saw the man. He stood up and ran and after a while, police vehicles arrived,” she recalled.

The witnesses noted that the couple had been fighting over the years but nobody thought that their wrangles would escalate to the fatal level.
