President William Ruto has made changes in government, replacing a number of Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta's appointees.

One of the significant changes made on Friday, July 28, was the appointment of Engineer Simon Nganga, Hassan Ahamednur Baricha, Jared Mekenye Ongwae and Lydia Boke Marwa as members of the Board of Directors at the Water Resource Authority, mandated to regulate and manage water resources.

The appointees were asked to assume office on Friday, July 28, 2023, for a term of three years.

Similarly, the President revoked the appointments of Bernard K. Njoroge, Stephen Oluoch, George Wambugu and John Thuku who were appointed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ruto also appointed Lucy Waruingi as the chairperson of the Wildlife Conservation Trust Fund governing board. Waruingi will serve for three years, effective Wednesday, July 26.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 23 (2) (a) of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Lucy Waruingi to be the Chairperson of the Governing Board of the Wildlife Conservation Trust Fund," the Gazette Notice read in parts.

President Ruto cited Section 7 (3) of the State Corporations Act, which allowed him to make the changes, including firing those appointed by the previous regime or not renewing the contracts that had elapsed.

Ruto's confidants followed the same suit, actively reshaping the government's landscape by hiring new faces

In a separate notice, Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen reconstituted the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority board that oversees the establishment of an efficient, effective, and sustainable public transport system within the city.

In a Gazette Notice dated Friday, July 28, Murkomen appointed Anna Robai, Dominic Kipkoech and Annastacia Mumbua as Board Directors of Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority.

The three were appointed for three years, during which they will be responsible for reviewing and implementing policies that will modernise transportation in Nairobi and its environs.

Water CS Alice Wahome also transferred Patrick Musili from Athi Water Works Development Agency, where he served as the chairperson of the Board of Directors, to the Kenya Water Institute as the chairperson of the Governing Council.

Musili will serve for a term of three years, effective August 7, 2023.
