Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers attached to Kisii County Headquarters have launched a manhunt for a gang that attacked and robbed two employees of Ksh1 million.

Speaking Kenyans.co.ke, Kisii Central Police boss Nicodemus Mutunga revealed the two customers were accosted by the gang as they left a bank in the populous town.

According to the sleuth, the seemingly well-planned robbery was staged just minutes after the businessmen entered their salon car and begun traveling towards Nyatieko, Kisii County

"They told us that the money was supposed to be used to settle some debts which they owed to their suppliers. We are working with them to review the leads," the police officer stated.

The investigators revealed that as a matter of procedure, even the victims will be investigated so as not to leave anything to chance.

Accordingly, the two who were identified as businessmen who own an establishment in the county recorded statements separately and provided crucial leads which are being pursued by the police.

At the same time, the police boss explained that the victims did not resist the robbery and surrendered the money once they were confronted by the robbers.

Consequently, neither of them sustained injuries when the gang intercepted them and demanded that they surrender the Ksh1 million.

"The first priority is to secure the scene and protect any potential evidence. The responding officers have been gathering information from witnesses and victims.

"The investigator will want to get as much information as possible from the people who saw or were involved in the robbery. This includes the physical descriptions of the suspects, any vehicles that were involved, and any other details that they can remember," Mutunga explained.

As part of the investigations, the officers also collected physical evidence at the scene of the crime, including fingerprints and possible DNA.

Back the bank, the DCI officers reviewed CCTV footage to establish if the victims were followed from the premises.

"This evidence will be analysed by forensic scientists to help identify the suspects. The investigator will use the information gathered from the witnesses, victims, and crime scene to develop a profile of the suspects," the officer revealed.
