Millions Faith Kipyegon Has Bagged in Winning Races This Year

Faith Kipyegon isn't just etching her name in history but also amassing substantial wealth through her sheer hard work and determination. 

Her record-breaking feats and winning gold in the 1,500m and 5,000m competitions have propelled her to fame within four months. 

Kenyans.co.ke has established that the athlete has bagged over Ksh26,900,500 in major races spanning from May to August this year, including rewards bestowed by the government to acknowledge her remarkable accomplishments.

At the world event held in Budapest, Hungary, on Tuesday, August 22, Faith Kipyegon bagged Ksh10,118,500 ($70,000) after winning gold in the 1,500 meters. 

She clocked three minutes, 54 seconds (3:54.87) in the race.

Monaco Diamond League 2023

At the Monaco Diamond League athletics meeting held on July 21, Kipyegon set a mile world record after clocking 4:07.64. 

She was awarded Ksh Ksh1,445,500 ($10,000) in recognition of her outstanding performance. 

Paris Diamiond League 2023

Kipyegon broke the 5,000 meters world record after setting a record time of 14:05.20 at the Diamond League meeting held in Paris on June 9.

Having emerged as number one in the meeting and also setting a new world record, Kipyegon received Ksh1,445,500 ($10,000)

Florence Diamond League 

The world record holder in the women's 1,500 meters race bagged Ksh1,445,500 ($10,000) after setting a new world record in the 1,500 meters race.

Kipyegon clocked 3:49:11 in the race held on June 2.

Doha Diamond League

At the 1,500m race held on May 5 in Doha, Qatar, the gold medalist at the World Athletics Championships set a world lead time of 3:58:57.

Kipyegon bagged Ksh1,445,500 ($10,000) at the event as she continued to win hearts across the world while also putting Kenya's name higher on the global map.

Ruto Rewards the World Record Holder 

After setting the world record in the 1,500m race in Florence and the 5,000m race in Paris, President William Ruto gifted the icon Ksh5 million in his plan to recognise athletes as Kenya's ambassadors. 

She was also given a 3-bedroom house based in Parklands Nairobi worth Ksh6 million.

"She has won and broken two world records in 1,500 meters and 5,000 metres. The government of Kenya is going to award her Ksh5 million for the 1,500 metres record, and we are going to give her a house worth Ksh6 million in appreciation of the second 5,000 metres record," the Head of State announced on June 13.
