President William Ruto has revoked the appointment of the late Senator Otieno Kajwang's brother, Joseph Okoto Ajwang, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency.
Ruto made the announcement in a Gazette notice released on Friday.
Ajwang's appointment was revoked alongside that of Jeridah Bosibori Mbaka who held the same position.
In their place, the President appointed Millicent Oduor Olando and Mwita Maisoro, whose tenures kicked off on Friday, September 1.
"I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Millicent Oduor Olando and Mwita Maisoro to be members of the Board of Directors of the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency, established vide Legal Notice No. 28 of 2019, with effect from September 1, 2023 up to the 4th July, 2025," read the notice in part.
"The appointment of Jeridah Bosibori Mbaka and Joseph Okoto Ajwang are revoked."
Ajwang had been appointed to the position in July 2022 by former Cabinet Secretary James Macharia during his tenure at the Water Ministry.
At the time, the member was named to the board alongside Bosibori and was expected to serve for a period of three years.
Other members of the board were Cavince Owidi (Chairman), Chrispine Juma (Acting CEO), Joyce Mong'are (member) and Joseph Mbatha (representing treasury CS) among others.
Until Kajwang's death in November 2014, his brother served as his close confidant and even fought for his wealth.
In 2018, he revealed that although he conducted many transactions with his brother, a Sh15 Million debt has remained unsettled after his death.
He joined the list of individuals who were staking claim to Kajwang's wealth which included Rose Bujehela Otieno and Faith Vivian Otieno, both whom claimed to be the late senator’s widows.
The case is still in court.
