Police in Elgeyo Marakwet County are investigating a murder incident where a woman is said to have killed three people including a baby.
The incident happened in the Katilit area of Elgeyo Marakwet County, the woman's three-month-old baby being one of them.
According to accounts from witnesses in the area, the incident happened on Sunday night.
The witnesses recalled the incident saying that after waking up at night the woman picked a panga and descended on the victims.
Two others survived with injuries and were taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret for treatment.
It is still not clear the motive of the killing, but the police have launched investigations into the matter.
It was not immediately clear whether the law enforcement in the area had appended the woman.
Alarm bells have been raised over the mental health crisis in the country following an increase in such incidences around the country.
An incident was witnessed in Kitengela on April 25 when a 27-year-old woman in Milimani Estate, Kitengela sub county stabbed her two-year-old baby to death.
The neighbors heard screams and breaking items and rushed to the place but could not get into the house prompting them to call the police who broke into the house and found the woman unconscious.
Another incident was reported on June 8, after a woman stabbed her two children to death in the Maasai Lounge area in Rongai.
Together with crimes of passion, experts have warned that the crisis is a ticking time bomb.
