Concerns have been raised on the authenticity of the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam results after parents detected glaring anomalies.

According to photos shared by concerned parties, several schools got different results after logging into the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) official portal.

From the results shared, the grades of different subjects had changed, necessitating stakeholders to raise the alarm.

Affecto Founder Ndungu Nyoro shared two results from Kenya High School, where grades were different. The school was said to have scored B+ and B- in Kiswahili at the same time and A- and B in Mathematics.

Meanwhile, Homa Bay Member of Parliament George Kaluma urged parents to follow up on the discrepancies to avoid disadvantaging their children.

"Parents do not sleep. The results are changing every minute. You blink, it goes to A, blink again, and it will be an E," he stated.

Following the revelation, Kenyans questioned why some of the results were labeled as provisional, urging KNEC to clarify the discrepancies without delay.

The results were compared to those of the 2022 General Election, where candidates complained of receiving different results on some of the forms uploaded by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

"They are changing results all the time like Jose Carmago's election results," Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly Robert Alai trolled KNEC.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu and KNEC are yet to address the issue as demanded by their critics.

During the release of the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results, Machogu admitted that the exams were marred by errors. Candidates were affected by misalignment of marks, while grades in Kiswahili were placed under the Kenyan Sign Language.

Grades in Science and Social Studies & Religious Education were truncated incorrectly, missing the plus (+) and minus (-) signs as is the norm.

“As a CS, I have learned lessons because you can see as a ministry, everything was right. Somebody we can call an outsider was given the contract but did not conform and do to the required standard. Moving forward, when we release the KCSE examinations, we will not be able to make use of the same service provider,” Machogu stated.
