A 27-year-old man in Nakuru County was on Tuesday stabbed to death following an altercation with a female tenant over a suspected love triangle.
Sources privy to the matter detailed the events, stating that the confrontation ensued after the man was confronted by the tenant, presumed to be his girlfriend, for allegedly having a love affair with other female neighbours at the apartment in the Mwariki area in Nakuru.
The altercation later turned violent after the couple got into a physical fight, which turned fatal.
Hours later, the body of the 27-year-old man was found lying in a pool of blood on a sofa set with stab wounds on the left eye and left arm.
The deceased's girlfriend, on the other hand, fled the scene by the time police arrived at the scene.
Detectives attached to the Crime Scenes and Investigations (CSI) unit swept the scene for fingerprint analysis.
Further, they documented the entire scene as they launched investigations to locate the female suspect.
Tenants at the apartment revealed to police that the scuffle was over the love triangle, claiming that the matter escalated into an ugly confrontation.
The body of the deceased was moved to Nakuru Level 5 Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The officers urged the area residents to solve matters amicably instead of taking matters into their own hands.
The incident paints a picture of the current situation across the country, with cases of separation and conflict within relationships rising to an all-time high.
Data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) shows that infidelity was one of the leading causes of separation in the country.
Other causes include; cruelty, abandonment, life imprisonment as well as severe mental illness.
