Ugandan police have launched a manhunt for a Kenyan man accused of murdering his Ugandan lover on Friday, February 9.

The suspect was said to have fled Uganda for Kenya after allegedly committing the act in Mangen Trading Centre, Kalait Sub County in Tororo District.

According to Ugandan police, the body of the 48-year-old woman was found lying in a pool of blood at the back of her house.

Additionally, the police confirmed that her body was found to have head injuries suspected to be deep cuts.

Her body was moved to the Tororo General Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem to determine the cause of death

Further investigations into the case revealed that the suspect had threatened to kill his lover earlier in the day after a misunderstanding developed between them.

The lover identified as Beatrice Amoit, reported the threats to the local administration in Uganda who promised to follow up on her report in the morning. However, her body was found lifeless later that evening before the authorities could solve her grievance.

Speaking to journalists, the Ugandan police spokesperson for the Bukedi South region, Johnson Moses Mugwe, stated that the suspect was hiding in Kenya.

"We are investigating a murder case. The suspect is believed to have fled to Kenya after committing an offence, and is currently at large and efforts are on to have him apprehended such that he helps us in these investigations," Mr Mugwe stated.

He however assured that the police were making efforts to apprehend the suspect.

The murder case comes after a Kenyan man, Kevin Kang’ethe, escaped from Muthaiga Police Station while awaiting extradition to the U.S.

Kang’ethe, who is still at large, is wanted by the United States police for the murder of a nurse in a Boston Airport.
