Celebrated Citizen TV reporter Jane Chemutai Goin is quitting the media house.
Kenyans.co.ke has reliably learnt that the political reporter is already serving notice and is set to leave at the beginning of March.
Our sources indicated that Goin is slated to start her new role at the office of the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula as the principal media relations officer.
Reports of Goin's exit reached us on Monday, February 12, with the highly placed insider privy to the details stating that she was poised for a high-ranking job.
Our efforts to reach the reporter on the same day, were, however, futile since she neither returned our calls nor responded to our text messages. Two days later, more sources who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that she was serving notice.
The journalist has amassed nearly a decade of experience in media since starting as an intern at KTN and slowly rising through the media ranks.
She worked at Capital FM and also had a stint at Media Max, which owns K24 TV, before joining Royal Media Services.
In her career, Goin has been a pivotal political voice and is renowned for covering the 2017 and 2022 General Elections in both English and Kiswahili languages.
At Royal Media Services, Chemutai also works as a political and health news writer for the Citizen Digital platform.
In her decade of experience, Goin has received numerous accolades including a Presidential Award on June 1, 2020, during Kenya’s Madaraka Day celebrations.
Goin's departure leaves a big void at the RMS-owned TV station following the exits of her former colleagues Sam Ogina, Francis Gachuri and Raquel Muigai.
Gachuri left Citizen TV in March last year to serve as the Head of Communications in the Ministry of Interior headed by Cabinet Secretary Professor Kithure Kindiki.
At around the same time, Ogina also ditched the station and joined the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) as a senior communications officer, attached to the National Assembly.
