Gang Stabs DCI Officer to Death in Kisumu

Tensions are escalating in Riat, Kisumu, following the tragic death of a 42-year-old Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer who was stabbed to death by a gang on Monday, February 27, night.

Details of the incident reveal that the officer was attacked by a gang on his way home in the evening. 

Based on a police report obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the officer was rushed to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Law enforcement officers led by the Sub County Police Commander (SCPC) Kisumu West visited the scene and marked it to allow further investigations into the incident.

Kenyans.co.ke has since learned that the officer was on transfer from the Thika workstation to Wajir.

“The male aged 42 years was a DCI officer on transfer from Thika to Wajir was stabbed and rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital,” read the police report in part.

It is also alleged that the same gang stabbed another man aged 20, a few kilometres away from the first incident at around 11 p.m. on the same night.

Tragically, the 20-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival at the same hospital having sustained wounds on his stomach and chest

“The second victim had succumbed to stab wounds inflicted on the left side of the stomach”, explained the report.

More reports of the incident from the Assistant Chief of the Dago sub-location who reported the incident, state that there was no sign of a robbing attempt on either victim.

Less than two weeks ago, a police officer was ambushed and killed in Elgeyo Marakwet after unknown assailants shot him in the chest depicting the rising cases of police officers losing their lives under unclear circumstances.
