Among the areas to experience the rainfall include Nairobi, counties surrounding Mt Kenya and areas near Lake Victoria.

"Heavy rainfall of more than 30mm in 24 hours is expected over several parts of the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi area on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

"The heavy rainfall is likely to intensify to more than 40mm in 24 hours and spread to Southeast Lowlands, coast and northern sector on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. It is likely to reduce in intensity on Thursday, April 4, 2024. The heavy rainfall is likely to be accompanied by gusty winds,"  Kenya Met stated.

On the other hand, Kenyans were also advised to be wary of the possibility of flooding in their areas.

Consequently, Kenyans were advised to avoid crossing flooded water owing to the recent incidents that have seen some people washed away during the occurrences.

"Residents are advised to avoid driving through, or walking in moving water or open fields and not to shelter under trees and near grilled windows to minimize exposure to lightning strikes," read the cautionary notice in part.

Various government agencies and emergency response teams were advised to be aware of the occurrences to prepare and respond adequately.

According to Kenya Met, there is a 33-66 per cent chance for the weather patterns.
