Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo who mourned the officer, noted the security boss was immensely helpful in promoting general and lake security.

According to Millie, Morekwa also aided in eradicating sexual exploitation among young girls in Mbita and Homa Bay County as a whole.

“We worked very well on the issue of promoting general and lake security; and eradicating sexual exploitation of young girls, amongst other pertinent issues. My condolences to the family and loved ones. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” noted the MP.

Morekwa's body was moved to the Kirindo MED 25 mortuary which is located in Kirindo trading centre in Suba North constituency awaiting postmortem.

The latest developments come three days after the body of a police officer of the rank of a constable was retrieved from his house. It is alleged that the officer shot himself.

According to officers from Umande Police Station, the deceased allegedly shot himself in the chin with the bullet coming out through his left ear.

The police officers while interrogating the house recovered a G3 rifle and about 19 pieces of ammunition, according to the police, there was a possibility that the officer used the rifle to commit suicide.

The body of the deceased was moved to Laikipia Referral Hospital awaiting postmortem.
