Alarm Raised as Fire Razes School Dormitories in Machakos

Residents of Machakos have raised alarm as fire razed dormitories in Masii Boys High School on Tuesday evening.

The fire, which is reported to have broken out at around 5:30 P.M, from one of the dormitories is said to have burned down two of them.

During the Tuesday evening incident, no casualties or fatalities were reported.

However, property of unknown value belonging to the students and the school infrastructure were destroyed.

While reporting on the incident, the residents hailed firefighters for responding swiftly and successfully extinguishing the inferno.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined even though investigations into the issue are still ongoing.

Further, addressing the incident leaders from Machakos County have expressed their sympathy to the school fraternity while expressing gratitude to the fire response team for their response.

“I also express my gratitude to our county emergency response team for their quick act of courage in extinguishing the fire successfully, preventing loss of lives and further damages, stated the Deputy Governor, Francis Mwangangi.

At the time of publication of this article, the police had confirmed that they led evacuation of individuals from the school compound to avoid casualties.

Incidences of fires are not isolated cases as a few have been witnessed over time in different regions.

On March 1, a fire razed down several market stalls in Uthiru 87 along Waiyaki Way, destroying property worth thousands.

Additionally, another notable incident was witnessed in Diani on March 7 when a hardware store caught fire as a result of an electrical fault.

In both incidences, no casualties or fatalities were reported.
