A tragic road accident claimed the life of a police officer on Saturday along the Marsabit-Moyale Highway.
The incident occurred when the vehicle reportedly veered off the highway, subsequently rolling multiple times before coming to a stop in a nearby thicket in the Kambi Nyoka area.
Reports indicate that the accident, which took place at dawn, resulted in seven other passengers sustaining serious injuries.
Among the injured were three police officers, all of whom received initial first-aid treatment before being swiftly transported to the hospital for further medical attention.
In the widely circulated images, the police van appeared severely damaged, with shattered glass scattered across the accident scene.
According to witnesses, the officer driving the vehicle at the time of the accident was among the fatalities.
Subsequent to the incident, law enforcement swiftly responded to the scene, initiating an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
These developments follow closely on the heels of another tragic incident just two days prior, where a police officer, en route home for scheduled leave, was involved in an accident in Kakamega County.
The officer tragically lost his life on the spot after his motorcycle collided with the rear of a long-distance truck in Lugari Sub County along the Eldoret-Webuye highway.
Confirming the incident, the Lugari Sub County police commander noted that three other individuals sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
The body of the deceased was moved from the scene and taken to Kimbilio Hospice Hospital Mortuar. Meanwhile, the survivors were rushed to Turbo Sub County Hospital for treatment.
“Unfortunately, we have lost one of our officers who was on his annual leave around the Lugari area. By the time of the accident he was heading to Turbo," noted the Sub-County Commander.
