Asman Kamama Ditches Jubilee to Join Maendeleo Chap Chap movement.

The National Security Committee chairman and Tiaty Member of Parliament Asman Kamama has ditched the Jubilee Party and joined Maendeleo Chap Chap movement.

Kamama's move to Maendeleo Chap Chap could have been motivated by fear that he would not get the Jubilee ticket after he was linked to the killing of Tiaty parliamentary aspirant, Pepee Kitambaa, and Loyamorok Member of County Assembly (MCA), Kibet Cheretei, who were shot dead in Marigat town.

The Tiaty MP is now set to face Reverend Simon Kiuta (Jubilee) and Baringo Speaker William Kamket (KANU) who are seeking to oust him in the August elections.

Speaking to a local daily, Maendeleo Chap Chap leader, Governor Alfred Mutua revealed that the embattled chairman will be officially received by the party at a meeting on Tuesday this week, along with other defectors.

Mutua noted that the Tuesday meeting would involve all the party aspirants to discuss nominations and party structures.

"We will have the meeting on Tuesday, where we will unveil Kamama and other big names who have defected from others parties,” said Governor Mutua.

Kamama has been facing a backlash in the National Assembly where the Jubilee coalition was planning to replace him over failure to tame the prolonged deadly bandit attacks in Baringo County.

Previously, he had also been accused of using his powers in the Committee to arm members of his Pokot community with ammunition.

He has, however, survived several attempts to oust him from the senior position due to what is said to be close links with the Executive.
