Chelele's 'Last Minute' Prayer Before Death

As detectives continue to probe the mysterious death of Rift Valley musician Diana Chemutai commonly known as Chelele, an audio recording allegedly by the musician has emerged.

In the audio clip which sounds like a prayer, Chelele is heard describing tribulations she had gone through in her life, mentioning various people she had crossed paths with.

In the recording, she cries out to God narrating the miseries coming her way despite being a dedicated musician and praising God for a long time.

“God, all these years I have been in the (music) industry yet I don’t own anything. Everything I have is taken away from me. I knelt and prayed to you. I sang for you. I prayed for you to save me. God, did you decide that I should suffer this way?” she asks.

The musician further clarified allegations that faced her and her husband after they were accused of killing an Eldoret businessman, with whom she supposedly had an affair, claiming she was innocent.

The troubled musician goes ahead to mention forces behind her troubles and appeals to Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto to take care of her children and their land.

“I tried to approach the Governor. I was sure he would help me but I didn't get the chance. Take care of my children Governor. Protect our land from enemies,” she continued.

She finally asks for forgiveness from God, fellow musicians and her family for not being helpful to them despite being in a position to do so.

The recording emerged as her colleague revealed to a local radio station that Chelele had been receiving several calls from an unknown person before she went missing.

Her lifeless body was discovered on Saturday morning at Kapkwen in Bomet County after a search by relatives following her disappearance.
