Family Accuses Police After Son's Disappearance

It’s been several months of agony for a family in Huruma, Nairobi after their son went missing in February, allegedly abducted by security officers.

Pamela Ondiro, mother to 25 year old Philip Ondiro narrated to The Star the painful reality of a fruitless search for her son.

Philip’s family is trying to understand the circumstances of his disappearance on the fateful night.

His mother says he had gone to watch a football match at a local entertainment joint when he was arrested by four plain clothes officers.

Since then, the family has gone to every police station looking for him to no avail.

After his disappearance, a distressed sounding Philip called his mother once for a few minutes but his phone has been off since then.

Despite trying to hold on to hope that he is still alive, his family has gone to every mortuary in the city looking for his body.

Philip's father Paul Ondiro reported the matter  to office of the Inspector General of Police, where he and some witnesses recorded statements.

He says that the Independent Policing Oversight Authority contacted him on receiving the file but he is yet to receive any more information on the investigations.
