Government Ordered To Return KNUT Secretary General's Mobile Phone

Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Secretary General Wilson Sossion has ordered the government to return his phone back to him.

The KNUT Secretary General has asked Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet to ensure his mobile phone is returned to him, The Standard reports.

This demand by Sossion comes nearly week after his phone was confiscated by CID on Thursday 28 over an alleged abusive text he sent to Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi.

The said text message was allegedly sent on April 2 after the Garissa University terror attack.

Kaimenyi according to The Standard reported Sossion to the Director of Criminal Investigations for abusing him in a text message which read: “Shame on you on all these things. You are a disgrace,”

According to the CS the message disregarded his position as a Cabinet Secretary.

However Sossion maintains that the message was not offensive but terse, saying that the message should be made public for Kenyans to judge whether it was offensive or not.

According to the KNUT boss he told the CS that it is a shame on him for failing to advise the government on matters of security in schools, adding that Prof. Kaimenyi wants to have him jailed.

Teachers, if you call me and miss me, It is Education Minister Kaimenyi who has given my phone to the CID. He wants me sent to Jail.
