Jaguar Charged In Kirinyaga Court

Popular musician Charles Kanyi aka Jaguar was on Monday charged with careless driving leading to the death of two people in an accident along Sagana- Makutano road last month.

He was arraigned at Baricho Law Courts in Kirinyaga County where he pleaded not guilty to the charges before Magistrate Evans Kiago and was released on a Sh100,000 bond or a cash bail of Sh50,000.

The case will be mentioned on 24th May and the hearing would take place on the 8th of June this year.

If found guilty of the offence, it would attract a 10-year jail sentence and the award-winning musician could also have his driving licence cancelled.

Jaguar's Range Rover hit and killed the two who were riding a motorcycle in an accident that had sparked controversy following reports of a cover-up.

Witnesses at the scene claimed that the vehicle was being driven by a lady at the time of the incident before she exchanged seats with the musician.

However, the Starehe Parliamentary aspirant owned up to being behind the wheels dismissing the claims from the witnesses.
