Kenyatta Voted President of the Year in Africa

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been picked as Africa’s president of the year (2014/2015) for his outstanding leadership.

Kenyatta was chosen for the prestigious Africa Education and Leadership Awards for his ability to build consensus locally and abroad, Capital Fm reports.

According to the The Standard, the award also recognized his efforts to change policies for the better and supervise solutions that address Kenya’s pressing issues.

Thousands of university students from across hundreds of institutions of higher learning in the continent also lauded the President for initiating progressive economic programs aimed at uplifting the lives of Kenyans.

He was presented the award by students who are members of the Ghana based All-Africa Students Union (AASU) at State House in Nairobi.

During the meet, the president encouraged the students to find more constructive ways of contributing to the society.

He discouraged them against constant strikes that lead to destruction of property.

Accompanying the students were Education CS Prof Jacob Kaimenyi, PS Belio Kipsang and a team from the Kenya Private Sector Alliance.

The award celebrates among other things outstanding leadership and educational excellence.

President Kagame of Rwanda is a previous recipient of the award.
