KWS Takes Away Former Senator's Lions From Family

Two years now since former Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo passed on, his famed lions and cheetahs will no longer be living in his Kwa Kyelu Ranch.

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has taken possession of three lions and two cheetahs from the late Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo's family ranch, following claims of the animal's worsening health condition.

The animals are said to have been neglected since the demise of their care taker the late Kilonzo senior.

In a report on The Nairobian Mutula Junior Kilonzo has in the past engaged his step mother Nduku kilonzo in a war of words, accusing her of neglecting the animals his father kept at the family's ranch, accusations that the step mother denies.

According to KWS spokesperson Paul Gathitu, KWS will take possession of all other remaining animals at the ranch citing that besides the difference between the son and stepmother, the family of the late senator has not applied to change the license to own the animals.
