More Senior Police Officers Moved And Dropped in Reshuffle

Senior police officers have been moved in another reshuffle with others dropped by the National Police Service Commission.

Former Nairobi County Police Commander Benson Kibue is now Director of Operations at Vigilance House replacing Philip Ndolo who becomes the Kenya Airports Police Unit Commandant.

Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations Gideon Kimilu has been moved to the Ministry of Interior pending redeployment while his place was taken by Joseph Ashimala.

The Traffic Commandant Charlton Muriithi has been dropped and replaced by Jacinta Kinyua who will now Head the Department

Interior Minister Joseph Nkaissery also moved Mandera County Commissioner Alex Nkoyo to Kiambu County while William Kiprono took his place.

Stephen Chelimo is now the new GSU commandant, Gideon Kibunja the Director of Planning Police and Mercus Ochola takes over as Director, Internal Affairs Unit.

Judy Jebet is Commandant CID Training whereas Leo Nyongesa is the Community Policing Boss.

Mirium Muli is now the Inspection boss as Mary Kaol becomes the Personnel CID.

Stanley Lemai takes charge as Head of Personnel Police as Rogers Mbithi takes the Airwing whereas Owino Ochieng is the new Director for Reforms.

This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta nominated Joel Kitili as Deputy Inspector-General replacing Grace Kaindi.

Nkaissery explained that the changes were made after consultation with the National Police Service Commission.

“The changes will help us in countering terror and extremism, curbing cattle rustling in North Rift, combating Illicit alcohol and boosting security,” Nkaissery explained.

However, the replacement of Kaindi as the Deputy Inspector General had been met by criticism from CORD Leader Raila Odinga and other quarters that claim the President breached the constitution while making that move.

Grace Kaindi was last week forcefully ejected from office and has since protested her dismissal in court.
