MP Junet Discloses What Police Told Them While in Cell

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has divulged what police officers confessed to them during their three-day stay at Pangani Police Station.

During a television interview on Friday night, Mr Mohamed stated that the officers admitted that they had received 'orders from above' to detain them in harsh conditions.

“Police officers who were dealing with us were telling us there were serious instructions from above that we should not be given food, we should not be given water, we should not be given any services at all...you cannot change clothes, you cannot be visited by anyone,” Mohamed said.

The legislator, who was arrested alongside seven other politicians of the Jubilee and CORD coalitions, promised to mention persons behind their arrest on Sunday during the Opposition's prayer service in Machakos.

"We know the leaders who are behind this and we are going to name them," he said.

Mr Mohamed added that the arrests were 'politically instigated' in a bid to silence the Opposition.

He highlighted that the eight of them were detained in solitary confinement while at the station.

The lawmaker, who was dramatically arrested at Nation Centre, noted that his apprehension was taken out of hand as he was ready to willingly go to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) office.

The other seven suspected hatemongers who include: Gatundu South MP Moses KuriaFerdinand Waititu (Kabete), Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati), Machakos Senator Johnson MuthamaTimothy Bosire of Kitutu Masaba, Busia Women Rep Florence Mutua and her Kilifi counterpart Aisha Jumwa were on Friday arraigned in court and released on cash bail or surety bond.
