Mutahi Ngunyi Explains How Education CS Fred Matiang'i Could Fail Like Anne Waiguru

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has interestingly intimated on what could be the ultimate failure of the highly praised Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.

In his analysis, Ngunyi stated that it was rather careless of Matiang'i to enjoy and entertain the accolades the public gave him when he released the 2016 KCPE exam results, without diverting the praise back to his boss, Uhuru Kenyatta.

Mr Ngunyi divulged that when Kenyans thronged various media platforms to congratulate him for the outstanding work in the Education sector and even suggested he would make a better President than Kenyatta, he should have given his boss credit and 'corrected the public's fantasy'.

He indicated that the Education CS seemed to be enjoying the hullabaloo warning that: "If the King is jealous by nature, a king who does not express his jealousy is even worse. And because Uhuru has not complained about Matiang'i taking all the glory does not necessarily mean that Matiang'i is correct in what he is doing by failing to refract that glory back to his boss."

The professor noted that the minister ought to learn from the predicaments of former Devolution and Planning CS Anne Waiguru, who was initially hailed nationally and internationally as the best CS.

"Today Matiang'i is where Waiguru was two years ago. She was voted the best minister ever locally and internationally. And the media loved her. But while she was flying high she forgot the first law of politics that the only time you begin from the top is when you are digging a hole," Ngunyi said.

The political scientist pointed out that for Matiang'i to succeed, he needs to study the rise and fall of Ms Waiguru and also that of the late Foreign Affairs Minister Robert Ouko, who was told by foreigners that he would make a better Head of State than then President Daniel Moi.

Mr Ouko was reportedly killed when he wanted to ouster President Moi from office and weed out corruption.
