Muthama Obliges to Nkaissery's Orders

Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has today recorded a statement with the Criminal Investigation Department CID at Nairobi after a directive by the Interior and Coordination Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaisserry following his utterance at CORD's rally on Wednesday.

Muthama was accompanied by Cord leader Raila Odinga and other members of the coalition to the CID offices in Nairobi.

The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) yesterday criticized Nkaissery's orders stating that he had no powers to instruct the Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko to carry out investigations terming the move as illegal.

Addressing the press after filing the statement, CORD stated that they supported the Machakos Senator fully and that intimidation would not impel them to backout.

The coalition said that Mr Muthama had no case to answer in regard to his utterances during the CORD solidarity rally citing that the senator was exercising his freedom of speech and in no way uttered defamatory statements.

Police Spokesperson Charles Owino however, yesterday mentioned that investigations were already underway to scrutinize some of the utterances made by different leaders during the CORD rally.

Muthama landed in trouble after he outwardly pointed out that President Uhuru Kenyatta was involved with Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru giving her special treatment compared to other executives.

Muthama demanded the President to explain why Ms Waiguru was not suspended after cases of corruption were reported in her Ministry, yet other Cabinet Secretaries were suspended over similar cases.
