Nairobi Women Representative Rachael Shebesh has received a major boost in her bid to defend her seat following a landslide victory in the Jubilee party nominations where she garnered 91,766 votes.
Newcomer Millicent Omanga gathered 53,734 votes while City lawyer Karen Nyamu managed 36,828 votes in the poll results that were announced yesterday.
Shebesh caused drama moments before the results were relayed when she stormed the Jubilee Party tallying centre at Nyayo Stadium.
Shebesh, who is seeking to retain her seat on a Jubilee ticket, claimed that there was a plan to rig her out of the race at Embakasi North polling station in favour of her competitor Millicent Omanga.
She forced the officials who were in the middle of the tallying process to halt the process as she expressed her disappointment in the exercise but later left with her supporters.
Shebesh is slated to battle it out with Nadya Khan from Maendeleo Chap Chap party and prominent businesswoman Esther Passaris who will be participating in ODM's primaries set for Sunday.
