PS Strips County Administrators in Public

Interior and Coordination Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho publicly humiliated two Embu County administrators after he stripped them off their official caps and shoulder epaulets.

Kibicho fired two chiefs, Peter Mureithi of Kieni North West Location and Francis Ndwiga of Kiangungi Sub-location, over the rampant production of illicit brew in their areas.

The PS, who was officiating a baraza in the region, lectured the area leaders over their reluctance in curbing the vice, stating that the Government would not tolerate their incompetence.

“This is the first warning shot to all chiefs and their assistants. If we find that your location or sub-location is a den for these dangerous illicit brews and drugs that have caused death and so much havoc among our youth, the government will not give you a second chance,” Kibicho stated.

Kicho added: “After the chiefs and assistant chiefs, we shall move up the ladder if this problem persists. So Assistant County Commissioners, County Commissioners and Regional Coordinators you too should be in the frontline in the war against Illicit brews and drugs”.

The PS also led a team around the county in destroying the lethal brew, with close to 500 litres being poured.

In 2015,  President Uhuru Kenyatta declared war on all second generation alcohol blamed for the deaths of many Kenyans.

Several local administrators have since been suspended from duty after they were found guilty of colluding with the manufacturers and eventually benefiting from the arrangement.
