CORD leader Raila Odinga on Thursday evening addressed the media indicating that an agreement had been reached with the Jubilee coalition on a four-member committee to resolve the IEBC impasse.
Odinga went ahead to claim that Jubilee had appointed Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi to lead its 2-member team.
“We have agreed on some issues but have picked a team of four people to look at the sticky ones. CORD will be led by Senator James Orengo and Eseli Simiyu. Jubilee team will be led by Senator Kiraitu Murungi. They will hold talks and report back in 24 hours," said Odinga
In a response to the assertions, a statement from Jubilee denied knowledge of such an agreement but indicated a willingness to consider some of the issues raised by CORD.
“We have seen from the CORD statement that there is a proposal of another four-member committee that we as a party are unaware of. There has not been any suggestion or agreement on this,” read the statement.
Negating Raila's claims, Senator Kiraitu who was allegedly supposed to be part of the team affirmed that he was not aware of the said arrangement.
“I have not met CORD and the President has not called me to tell me whether there has been any agreement with the CORD side. I am in Meru and cannot be in Nairobi to do what Raila is saying within 24 hours," Kiraitu told the Standard.
Two weeks ago, the same scenario was witnessed when Odinga and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula were invited to State House.
After a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Opposition leader stated that they had decided to form a 10-member committee that would lead talks on the IEBC stalemate.
Moments later, State House disputed the statement, asserting that the two had not engaged in any talks to the effect of holding dialogue regarding the issue.

Meanwhile, CORD has written to the police notifying them of its intention to hold peaceful anti-IEBC protests on Monday despite Jubilee forming a team to engage them in dialogue.
