Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has received a huge boost in his quest to win the presidency in the August 8 General Election.

Odinga emerged as the most preferred candidate to fly the National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential flag according to the latest opinion polls released on Saturday.

The survey, conducted by Infotrack between February 24 and March 2, indicates that 68.3 percent of NASA supporters want Odinga to be the Opposition's presidential candidate.

He was followed by Wiper leader and co-principal in the Alliance, Kalonzo Musyoka, was backed by 13.1 percent of the sampled population.

Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi came in third with 12.3 percent of the Opposition supporters expressing their confidence in him, while Moses Wetangula received 2.2 percent support.

Interestingly, Jubilee supporters were also required to give their opinion on who they thought was capable of beating President Uhuru Kenyatta in the upcoming polls.

According to this category of respondents, Mudavadi got majority support with 27.3 percent backing him, followed by Odinga at 26.5 percent.

The ODM leader was followed by Musyoka at 24.6 percent with Wetangula coming a distant fourth with 3.9 percent of the respondents expressing their confidence in him.

This will a crucial boost for Odinga as reports indicate the NASA presidential candidate could be selected by considering the individual's popularity.
