Robbers Engage Police In Shootout Along Nairobi-Nakuru Highway

Two suspected robbers were shot dead along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway hours after they carjacked and robbed three Ugandan traders.

The two were part of a four man gang that was involved in a dramatic shootout with police officers near Fly-Over trading centre.

Two suspects managed to escape with gunshot wounds.

In a daring move, the robbers allegedly stopped the traders along the road under the guise of being police officers.

It is when car stopped that they forced the traders to get out, proceeding to beat them, taking their personal effects and money before driving off in the car.

According to The Standard, Naivasha-based police officers said they recovered an AK47, two rounds of ammunition and a toy pistol along with money of unknown value in different currencies.

Police officers have launched a man hunt for the suspects.

Naivasha CID boss Martin Mbaya warned motorists to be on the lookout for frauds passing off as traffic police.

Motorists along the highway say that the criminals are getting bolder by the day most claiming to have fallen victim to the imposters.

They have called on the government to intervene and provide more security along the highways.
