Robbers Steal Sh580,000 From Faulu Bank

Unknown robbers on Sunday morning broke into a bank located along Ngong Road in Nairobi while Kenyans were busy celebrating the New Year.

The gang is said to have made its way into a building housing the Faulu Bank and managed to get away with Sh580,000.

During the 2am incident, the thieves are said to have broken a window of the bank and grabbed the money from one of the counters.

The group then managed to escape unnoticed despite the presence of security guards manning the area. The theft was later discovered when the security team was changing its shift.

Confirming the burglary, Nairobi Police Commandant Japheth Koome stated that the money had not been stored in a secure vault as is the norm.

He added that the guards who were on duty during the theft had already been arrested and were assisting the police with investigations.

“We believe the guards knew about the incident and they are already in custody helping with investigations,” stated Koome.

The theft happened as a majority of Nairobi residents had flocked various joints across the City to celebrate and usher in the New Year.
