School Boy Arrested With Sh200,000 Bhang

A 16-year-old pupil at Migori Primary School was on Friday arrested after being found with 190 rolls of bhang valued at Sh200,000.

The young boy was apprehended alongside an accomplice, Kennedy Otieno, 20, at Rakwaro Center, Rongo Sub-county with the bhang wrapped around their bodies like suicide bomb belts.

Confirming the incident, OCPD Jonathan Muganda stated that the two were headed to Opapo area in Rongo.

Mr Muganda noted that the bhang had been transported from Tanzania through Bondo Nyironge center in Suna-West Sub-county, and the two were to deliver it to another person who was to oversee it's transportation to Nairobi and Mombasa.

The OCPD affirmed that the two boys would be arraigned in court.

“The case shows that traffickers are now turning towards children, especially during holidays, to traffic drugs,” he said.

In another recent case, a Form Three student at New Jogoo Road Secondary School in Nairobi County was arrested after police acting on a tip off found a bhang garden on the rooftop of his house.

Officers who raided the student's house uprooted over 1000 stalks of bhang that had been hidden inside a tank located on the rooftop, which the student's mother swore she had no knowledge of.
