Sonko Unveils Polycarp Igathe as Running Mate in Nairobi Gubernatorial Race

Vivo Energy Managing Director, Polycarp Igathe, was on Wednesday officially unveiled as Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko's running mate in the gubernatorial race.

In a press conference attended by Deputy President William Ruto at Jubilee party headquarters, Igathe accepted the nomination announcing that he was determined to transform the City.

"I have left a job at the private sector for politics, we can no longer leave Nairobi in the hands of clueless people," said Igathe.

He further revealed that he had undergone rigorous interviews before being selected for the position.

Sonko and his running mate also outlined their vision for the county, promising to restore Nairobi's lost glory, clean up the city, create employment opportunities as well as to sort out the drainage menace.

At the same time, Ruto praised the team terming them the dynamic duo and urged party supporters to unite behind them as they seek to unseat incumbent Governor Evans Kidero.

"All Nairobians should unite behind this team. They have what it takes." urged Ruto.

Party supporters will be keen to see how Sonko will unite the original team Nairobi members who lost Jubilee party nominations but had expressed interest in serving as his deputy.

Among the leaders in the team who lost during the primaries include former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru, Dagoretti lawmaker Dennis Waweru and Nairobi Woman Representative aspirant Millicent Omanga.
