Suspected Kenyan Terror Spies Arrested

Police have arrested two Kenyans suspected to be spying and recruiting young Kenyans for an Iranian terror group.

Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinett said that the two, Abubakar Sadiq Louw (69) and Yassin Sambai Juma (25) were planning to execute terror attacks on Nairobi hotels hosting tourists, diplomats and international businessmen.

Boinett said that the two suspects admitted to have been working for an Iranian terror ring, with instructions to recruit young Kenyans to spy and facilitate attacks.

"The mission of that ring was to mount terror attacks in this city, not only targeting western interest but our people as well, " he said.

According to Police, Mr Abubakar who recruited Mr Juma has been luring Kenyan youth to join the group, promising them scholarship awards.

The IG said on Saturday that the two had made several trips to Iran, where Juma was introduced to a contact person named, Parsa, who instructed him on the targeted areas in Nairobi.

Boinett's revelations come after a warrant of arrest was issued by Police on Malik Yassin, a suspected Al-Shabaab fighter of British origin, believed to have sneaked into Kenya.
