Four people were killed on the spot, while six others were seriously injured on Saturday night when the vehicle they were traveling in got involved in an accident along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
The 8pm accident is said to have taken place when a private vehicle collided head on with a tanker at a black spot near Mumberes highland school.
The private vehicle had been carrying traders from Lotii market while the lorry was moving towards Eldoret direction from Nakuru.
Evidence of the victim’s trade, clothes, vegetables, shoes and money lay strewn all over, at the site of the accident.
Confirming the incident to The Standard, Eldama Ravine traffic commandant Peter Ndambuki said that the occupants of the tanker escaped unhurt.
The six survivors were rushed to Eldama Ravine District Hospital and are said to be responding well to treatment, although one of them is still in a critical state.
The deceased were taken to Eldama Ravine District Hospital mortuary.
Investigations into the accident are ongoing.
The accident comes a day after another tragic accident claimed the lives of four people in Thika.
