Uhuru Warns Against Wrangles in Jubilee

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday cautioned Jubilee Party leaders against infighting stating that it could result to loss in the upcoming General Election.

Speaking at the Kasarani Gymnasium during the launch of a member recruitment drive, Kenyatta warned that some aspirants risked losing to the Opposition if they kept "competing bitterly".

According to the President, such differences would give the Opposition a competitive advantage which might also affect the general performance of the Party in the August 8 polls.

"There are people who are fighting so bitterly! Let me ask you, of what help will it be to you if you fight each other so fiercely then you lose and even make all of us lose, then how will you have benefited? It is unity that shall ensure our Jubilee agenda continues,” asserted Kenyatta.

He further called for unity among all Jubilee leaders to ensure they spread the Party policies instead of engaging in unnecessary competition.

The Head of State further promised a free and fair nomination, adding that he (Kenyatta) and his deputy William Ruto did not have any preferred candidates.

To affirm this, the President disbanded a 63-member team consisting of some elected leaders, which was to spearhead his re-election bid.

The team had sparked fears among aspirants who felt that some of those included in the campaign squad would be preferred during the primaries.

He maintained that all aspirants were equal members of the Party, and they would all be mandated to campaign for the President on an equal basis.

“I today recognise you as a leader. Today we have no President here, no Deputy President, no governor, no MP or MCA we are all here as equals. We are members of a party called Jubilee and we are going out there to register members,” he highlighted.
