VIDEO: Politician Rides on Donkey to IEBC Offices

A candidate in the Malindi by elections arrived at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices riding on a donkey to present his nomination papers.

Ruben Katana, a KADU Asili candidate, made the humble arrival escorted by a tuk tuks (three-wheeled vehicles) instead of the posh cars driven by his rivals.

Katana, a former Kenyatta University student leader, was accompanied by Kaloleni MP Gunga Mwinga, who decamped from the opposition.

The young aspirant noted he would offer residents an alternative form of leadership despite him having weaker financial muscles compared to other contestants.

“Even if I don't have money like my competitors I will continue to sell my policies” Katana affirmed adding that he believed the people of Malindi would crown him.

In his political debut, Katana will run against ODM's William Mtengo and Jubilee's Philip Charo among others in a race that is largely seen a political battle between the main coalitions - CORD and Jubilee.
