Why the 'S' on Harambee Stars Plane was Missing

A man who claims to have branded the Harambee Stars chartered plane, has revealed that he left out the last "S" intentionally, leaving the bold writing imprinted on the plane as "Harambee Star".

Jackson Kemboi came forth on Wednesday demanding for his outstanding balance of Sh31,000, saying that he went through many challenges just to complete the task in less than 24 hours.

“It was a very challenging assignment. We were at the airport by 7am on the day the team was to travel to Cape Verde and immediately commenced on the work. Halfway through the job, the CEO of Skyward Express (the firm that owns the chartered plane) stopped us from working claiming the plane had not been paid for,” he said.

The designer claimed he was ordered to scrape off everything he had written, and while in haste of doing that ruined the letter “S” sticker.

“My crew didn’t have time to go back and design another letter “S” because of time. That is why the plane was eventually branded Harambee Star,” said Mr Kemboi.

He further claimed that him and others were arrested by police officers at Wilson Airport, after being accused of loitering and upon their release, the broker who had given them the job was nowhere in sight.

The national team used the plane last week for their trip to Cape Verde for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers match, after Football Kenya Federation (FKF) failed to secure a commercial flight for them.

Over the past few months, the team has been marred with issues that trickled down from the leadership of the FKF and in house wrangles that led to last week's arrest of Sam Nyamweya, the President of the federation.
