Wiper Movement Declines to Hold Joint Nomination with NASA Parties

Wiper Movement which is led by Kalonzo Musyoka on Friday announced that it will not accept a plan to hold joint nominations with any other party in the National Super Alliance (NASA).

The party, through Secretary General Hassan Omar, declared that it was independent hence would not conduct its primaries with either ODM, ANC or Ford Kenya in any part of the country.

Omar who is also the Mombasa Senator stated that holding the nominations together was similar to dissolving the party.

“There has been no consensus on joint nominations in any part of the country and Wiper will have aspirants in all positions," stated the Senator.

At the same time, the party extended the deadline for registering new aspirants to March 11 citing increased demand for individuals seeking the party's ticket.

NASA is said to have proposed that they map out areas where they would either pick candidates for various elective posts through consensus or joint primaries.

According to the plan, it would ensure the parties don't divide votes, especially where more than one party enjoys huge support.

This would help the Opposition avoid unnecessary competition specifically from Jubilee.

Earlier on, Musalia Mudavadi's ANC party had also indicated that it had not agreed to the plan insisting that it would hold its primaries separately.
