PHOTOS: Woman Rescued Alive in Huruma Building After 6 Days

A woman was on Thursday morning saved from the rubble of the building that collapsed in Nairobi's Huruma estate last Friday at night.

The woman was found alive and without any physical injuries but rescue officials were still trying to gain access to the area where she had been trapped for six days.

Doctors at the scene quickly responded to attend to the woman in order to stabilise her condition having starved under the rubbles for close to a week.

This follows the rescue of a six-month old baby who was found in a basin while wrapped in a blanket on Tuesday morning.

The girl was rushed to the Kenyatta National Hospital after which she was re-united with her father.

On Wednesday, nine rabbits were also recovered from the rubbles raising hopes in the rescue team that they would find more people alive.

Rescue operations by Kenya Defence Forces, Kenya Red Cross Society, National Youth Service and other Government officials have seen 33 bodies retrieved with more than 136 others being saved.

However, close to 80 occupants of the ill-fated house are still missing and are believed to be trapped under the collapsed structure.
