10 Amazing Facts About the Pinnacle Tower to be constructed in Upperhill, Nairobi

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of Pinnacle Towers, a 70 storey building which will be the tallest tower in Africa.

In March, Hass Petroleum Group signed a Sh20 Billion deal with China State Engineering Corporation to set up the project in Upperhill area in Nairobi.

At 900 feet, the building will have the tallest viewing deck in Africa.

"The building will also have a helipad which will be at over 800 feet making it the highest on the continent, we thought it wise to put the helipad here so that people can fly directly to the hotel and beat Nairobi's traffic," Hass Petroleum Executive Chair in East and Central Africa Abdinasir A Hassan highlighted during the laying of the foundation.

The tower will house the five star Hilton hotel which will take up 45 floors of the building. It will have 255 rooms.

There will be a Hilton rooftop bar on the 43rd floor of the hotel.

The landmark will also include 20 floors of class A offices.

Five floors of the building will have shopping places, entertainment, restaurants, a health spa, gym and infinity room.

There will also be 200 residential houses ran by Hilton hotel comprising of one bedroom, two bedrooms, and three-bedroom furnished apartments.

The tower will also have three floors of basement parking, a gaming zone and a luxury mall spread across three floors.

"We expect the entire building to be completed by December 2019, although the 255 room Hotel May be completed earlier," Mr Hassan stated.

Other Nairobi hotels that were officially opened by the President on Tuesday were Park Inn by Radisson Blu in Westlands that has a bed capacity of 140 and Lazizi premier a luxurious hotel located at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) with a bed capacity of 144.
