Yvonne Okwara Resigns From KTN

KTN's top anchor Yvonne Okwara-Matole was on Wednesday reported to have left the Standard Media Group station to join Royal Media Services' (RMS) Citizen Tv.

Her colleagues at the Mombasa Road headquarters relayed that the news anchor resigned from KTN and was serving notice until the end of April, Business Today reported.

A source disclosed to Kenyans.co.ke that the accomplished journalist tendered her resignation letter on Monday.

Speculation is rife that former KTN Managing Editor Joe Ageyo may have facilitated the move after he took up the Editorial Director position at RMS.

RMS conducted a major overhaul of its editorial team, absorbing some of NTV's big names who quit at the beginning of the year.

"On behalf of the Board and Management of the Royal Media Services Limited (RMS), I am pleased to announce new appointments and several internal management changes to strengthen our strategic vision and direction.

"The changes will enable us to position for long-term growth and bolster our position as market leader of Kenya’s broadcasting industry," the statement by Wachira Waruru, the group's managing editor, read in part.

Linus Kaikai was taken in as the Director of Strategy and Innovation while Swahili anchor Jamila Mohamed was appointed to the Managing Editor of the Swahili division.

Victoria Rubadiri is rumoured to be the next in line to leave NTV with her sights set for Citizen Tv

Yvonne has been in media for 11 years, having started her career at RMS before moving to NTV and subsequently to KTN where she carved a niche for herself as one of Kenya's toughest interviewers.
