Seven Arrested as Police Raid Abduba Dida's Home in South C

Two-time presidential candidate Abduba Dida was on Wednesday put on the spot after a raid on his South C home in Nairobi.

Police found highly questionable items in the house arresting seven persons, some whose nationality is yet to be established.

Area residents raised an alarm after noticing the suspicious movement of young people in and out of the house. The youth are believed to be engaging in illegal activities in the estate.

The occupants of the house owned by the politician moved in on September 2017 and locals informed the estate officials that illegal activities were taking place at the home.

"The owner of the house came later in the day, we asked him to accompany the police to record a statement. He said he had nothing to say but he complied.

"We have had incidences of insecurity and we feared they could be doing or planning something illegal," Gabriel Anyika, a concerned resident told NTV.

The police conducting the raid arrested seven people in the house. They are being held to aid the investigations on the matter.

The officers found filming equipment, school desks, sex-enhancing drugs and other items whose usage is yet to be established.

Dida could not give the media the details of the errands he runs in the house. He told NTV that police had the right to access and conduct operations anywhere.

Among the arrested were six men and one woman.

One of the rooms had campaign materials used by Dida during the 2017 general elections.
