EACC Raids Wajir Governor Mohamed Mohamud's Home

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Saturday raided Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi Mohamud's homes in Nairobi and Wajir over graft allegations.

The sleuths also descended on his head of treasury's home in lower Kabete.

It was revealed that crucial documents, including company ownership documents and finance material, were recovered from their homes.

The Governor was accused of embezzlement of Kshs350 million from his county. 

The sleuths further recovered county consultancy documents and property ownership documents.

The detectives also arrested the wife to the head treasury, Sonia Mworia, and accused her of destroying documents linked to the graft.

The destroyed documents were allegedly evidential recovered from their home in lower Kabete.

Yesterday, detectives from the Special Crimes Preventions Unit also raided Migori Governor Okoth Obado's home in such of Gun licenses he had claimed he kept at his Lavington house.

This was in connection with an earlier raid by EACC detectives who had ransacked Obado's houses, Migori and Nairobi, and his office recovering eight guns, three of which were illegal.

The embattled Governor was subsequently arrested on Wednesday in connection with the raids but was released on Friday, November 16, on cash bail of Kshs200,000 or Kshs500,000.
