3 Chinese Businessman Arrested for Defrauding KRA Millions

The renewed drive by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to nab tax evaders has seen three Chinese businessmen detained by detectives.

On Wednesday night, sleuths arrested the three suspects for evading tax amounting to Ksh58 million.

According to reports by Nation, the three Chinese nationals are directors of Electric Tools Kenya Limited.

The suspects,  Pi Ning, Li Hua and Hu Bin are currently being held at the Railway Police Station.

They are expected to be arraigned in court on Friday morning.

Their arrests come at a time when the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Wu Peng, warned his nationals in the country over being increasingly involved in crime and indiscipline cases.

Speaking during a meeting with Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday, Peng declared that those found flouting the laws of the land would not only be punished by Kenya but would also face “our own internal measures as China”.

“Our citizens must respect the rule of law in Kenya. They should do the right thing and get permits and licenses where necessary,” he reiterated.

As an ambassador, Peng further explained that he would want to make Kenya-China relations flourish and assured the government of his country’s support and collaboration in development.
