ODM Entices ANC's Malala With Mouthwatering Offer

ODM on Sunday pulled a sly move after it sought to award a member of a rival party that lost the November 7, Kibra by-election.

According to the Daily Nation, the party through its secretary-general Edwin Sifuna promised to hand Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala a direct ticket should Amani National Congress' (ANC) decision to expel him lead to a by-election.

The promise was made on Sunday, November 17, in a funds drive at Cheptulu Salvation Army in Vihiga County.

ODM came to Malala's rescue after he was suspended by ANC for supporting ODM's candidate Benard Imran Okoth during the Kibra polls.

"Malala supported us in Kibra, ODM party will stand with him. ANC is pained after losing the by-election,” Sifuna stated.

“They spent money, and they are feeling the pinch. As the ODM secretary-general, I want to say that should they (ANC) oust you, we shall receive you," he promised.

The senator was suspended from the party on Friday, November 15 after his outright betrayal.

He, however, defended himself stating that he supported Imran to comfort him for losing his brother Ken Okoth in July.

Malala who had dared the party to expel him on Saturday, November 16, had declared that he was not afraid of a by-election and was, in fact, willing to receive the ODM ticket.

He also hit out at his party leader Musalia Mudavadi accusing him of unfairly targeting him. The senator further bashed his party for fronting a candidate in Kibra when, accordig to him, Imran's family needed support after losing Ken Okoth.
