Itumbi Clobbered by Police Over Moses Kuria's Arrest

Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi narrated how he faced the wrath of angry police officers at Kilimani Police Station, Nairobi after he joined Deputy President William Ruto's allies in seeking the release of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.

On Friday, January 10, police hurled teargas at a press conference held by Kandara MP Alice Wahome and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, forcing the politicians and their audience to scamper for safety.

Itumbi had earlier on joined the group, explaining that he went to the police station to record a statement in favour of Kuria, who was arrested for allegedly assaulting Kiambu activist, Joyce Wanja.

"Wamenichapa. They hit me as I went back to take my car. 18 policemen rained blows, they started kicking me. What kind of people are these?

"I am even shocked by the police. They would rather even have arrested me and put me in the cell. My only mistake was to go to a public police station to pick my car, surely!" Itumbi lamented in a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke.

Taking to Twitter, later, he stated that he was treated and discharged, promising to relentlessly fight for Moses Kuria's release.

The digital strategist also argued that Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, had tried to legally address Kuria's release, but the police declined to release the legislator despite the lawyer having obtained court orders.

He claimed that the police responded, "We will not obey court orders. Our orders are from Harambee (House). Go ask our bosses.

Earlier on, he had alleged that Wanja tried to blackmail Moses Kuria before his arrest.

"The complainant wanted money. Kuria said he was not guilty and would not be blackmailed!" Itumbi tweeted.

Further, he insisted that police officers had dismissed a medical report provided by the complainant, stating that Kuria did not deserve to be arrested.
