Kathy Kiuna Moved by Top KCPE Girl's Plight on Citizen TV

Reverend Kathy Kiuna of the Jubilee Christian Church (JCC) Ministries on Tuesday, January 21, came to the aid of a schoolgirl whose plight was highlighted on Citizen TV.

The young girl, Daisy Amondi Atieno, completed her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education( KCPE) in 2019 and scored 412 marks but could join secondary school due to a lack of school fees.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kathy assured that she would cater for the girl's secondary school education.

"Our new adopted baby, Daisy Atieno. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for her. She was elated to get an opportunity to go to school. Glory to God in the highest," she wrote.

Daisy, who was called to Asumbi Girls High School, was required to pay a total of Ksh75,798, which her mother could not afford.

"I was really excited when I received the results but there was a problem as we did not have school fees. We applied for scholarships but none of them came through," Atieno stated.

Atieno's aunt revealed that she had been a high-achiever all through her primary education, something that had earned her a scholarship.

"She got a scholarship in class seven and eight but that was the end and she is appealing to well-wishers who might want to help her," her mother requested.

Meanwhile, on Monday, January 13, President Uhuru Kenyatta sponsored a top KCPE candidate, who could not be admitted to school due to lack of school fees.

Esther Kaari, a candidate who scored 422 marks and called to Nakuru Girls High School, was assisted by the president following a story by Citizen TV's Maryanne Nyambura on Friday, January 10.

"Immediately after the 9 p.m. news, we received a call from someone who said that the president would pay my daughter's school fees," Esther Kaari's mother told the media station on January 14, 2020.

Kaari, who aspires to be a cardiologist, expressed her gratitude to the president for helping her fulfill her dreams.

"I cannot express my happiness with words, the president should know that I am sincerely grateful for his help. I'm sincerely thankful, I don't know how to express myself further. May God bless him and may he always have that good heart," a grateful Kaari stated.
